The Stars in Their Eyes

Janie lives alone, she just prefers it that way
She likes to flirt with love, never invites it to stay.
So she fills up her weekends with movies and magazines.
Back when she was young, Janie knew romance and love,
She thought she’d give her hand to one who fit like a glove,
But what began with a fire ended with a cold, cold freeze.

(now she says)
Run when you see the stars in their eyes,
That’s just the warning sign of oncoming lies.
Someone breaks a heart and somebody cries
Better run, better hide when you see
The stars in their eyes, the stars in their eyes.

Peter works alone, till hours late in the night.
He’s got no time for love, his schedule’s always too tight.
Tells his friends he’s not lonely, he’s just really busy now.

(and he says)
Run when you see the stars in their eyes,
Never lose the element of surprise,
Someone breaks a heart and somebody cries
Better run, better hide when you see
The stars in their eyes, the stars in their eyes.

Late last Saturday night Janie was shopping
Where Peter’s buying a book.
Side by side in the checkout lane their lives were changed
With just one look.

Now when they see the stars in their eyes,
Day by day a bit of loneliness dies,
And every morning brings another surprise,
They can’t run, they can’t hide when they see
The stars in their eyes, the stars in their eyes.
The stars in their eyes, the stars in their eyes.
